A smartphone is the basic need of today’s life. One can survive without food for some time but surviving without a phone is not possible. Children to Youngsters, Adults to Seniors everyone needs a smartphone. Buying a perfect smartphone is not that easy nowadays. The market is full of choices every choice seems quite similar to another. There are some important things to remember while buying a smartphone. Some smartphone companies are in a race to provide best features in lowest possible while some are using their legacy in the market to sell a similar featured phone on 2-3 times the price offered by others. Here are some important things to remember while buying a smartphone:
1. Operating System
Android and iOS are two major operating systems available in the market. There are some smartphones with windows operating system but windows are not in competition at all. Choosing between Android and iOS is quite difficult and tricky and that’s why it one of the important things to remember while buying a smartphone. Android provides more hardware choice and more affordable options whereas iOS gets both the hottest apps first and timeliest software updates. Considering India, Android is a better choice as it is easy to use and provides better accessibility.
2. Price and Budget
Don’t pay more than you need to buy for a phone. Buying a phone for more than you can afford is not a smart option. Don’t go for brands and names, go for best hardware and features available at a lower price by any other existing brand. If your budget doesn’t allow you to buy an iPhone or Samsung Device go other existing brands such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, etc.
3. Right Screen Size
Handling a smartphone in hands is one of the most important things to remember while buying a smartphone. You are a person who operates the phone with a single hand than don’t go for a phone with large screen size. Smartphone with a screen size of 5.00 inches is easy and comfortable to use with one hand. If you are a gaming freak or use your phone for watching movies and videos or reading then you can go for a smartphone with larger screen size.
4. Screen Resolution, Quality, and Brightness
Don’t go for 4k screen resolutions instead go for a screen with better brightness and color quality. Having a 4k screen resolution doesn’t help in viewing screen in outdoor conditions but good brightness does. Same as in the case of colors if you have a 4k screen resolution but the quality of the screen is not good that is useless. Also, smartphones with 4k resolution cost much more. Go for AMOLED display instead of LCD. HDR is also a plus point.
One of the most important things to remember while buying a smartphone when you are a camera lover is don’t go for the number of megapixels. Yes, you read it right, the number of megapixels doesn’t matter much. The thing that matters is the aperture, pixel size, and lens. Phone camera with lower pixel size is best and consider features like dual lenses and focusing abilities. For example, last year launched Google Pixel have only 12.3 MP camera but its quality far better than other phones having 23 MP cameras.
The processor doesn’t matter it use to do. Even midrange phones offer good-enough performance for most users. A Snapdragon 600 series chipset is fine for normal users. But if you are a gamer and want virtual reality, go for an Android phone with a Snapdragon 821 chip or the very latest Snapdragon 835 chipset smartphone. A similar concept applies for the iPhones, the A10 processor in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is also very speedy.
7. Battery Capacity
As we need the energy to work smartphones also need a battery. A phone with high battery capacity will let you use your phone for a longer time. And that’s why battery capacity is one of the most important things to remember while buying a smartphone. For an intermediate or normal usage, a battery with the capacity of 3000mAh or more must be preferred. If you are a heavy user then you can go for an option with 4500-5000mAh battery capacity. Xiaomi phones are best options if battery life is what that matters to you.
Storage is what matters when you want your data and favorite apps to be on your phone. Consider a phone with at least 16GB of internal storage if you have an external source where you can save your data. If you don’t have an external source to keep your data then go for a phone with higher storage option like 32GB, 64GB or 128GB. Having a smartphone with expandable storage is also a plus point.
