Sector 17 is one of the most famous locations in Chandigarh but soon it is getting revamped. The Le Corbusier’s 59 years old city plan of Chandigarh will see some significant revision and changes in the upcoming years. The administration is planning a project to rejuvenate sector 17 while the Heritage Conservation Committee has also accepted it. This 11 Storey Building in Sector 17 will be the highest building against the Punjab and Haryana Secretariat building that has 10-storeys.

The administration is planning to build this new 11 storeyed building on the empty spaces of Sector 17, that will become a landmark for other buildings and offices later. The new proposed 11 storeyed building of Chandigarh will be constructed near the building of the main post office. According to the Heritage Conservation Committee, Le Corbusier is planning to construct the buildings in such a way that the most vibrant sector of Chandigarh should appear more beautiful. In 1959, Le Corbusier conceived the idea of constructing the 11 Storey Building in Sector 17, Chandigarh for the Post and Telegraph Department. But the plan couldn’t get implemented that time due to the lack of consensus.
11 Storey Building in Sector 17 and its Rejuvenation Details
As per the plan of getting the sector 17 of Chandigarh getting, rejuvenated, the 11 storeyed building is proposed to be a financial hub to house offices and banks. This 11 Storey Building in Sector 17 is proposed at this location only as the area is proposed to have restaurants on its top two floors, a five-star hotel, a convention center, an urban park and some government offices too. Apart from these, Chandigarh’s sector 17 Plaza Market will also go through some revamping mainly including a few walking tracks, better vehicle’s parking areas, gazebos to have a place with shade to sit & relax while shopping, an amphitheater & some more such facilities.
The revision in the 59 years old city plan of Le Corbusier in Chandigarh is finally going to happen and it will bring some significant changes in the topography of the city’s beauty.
